Materials Needed:

  • Mason jars (wide-mouth recommended)
  • Mont Marte Plaster Cloth Wrap
  • Black paper (for eyes)
  • LED tea lights

Steps:

  1. Cut the Plaster Wrap.
Begin by cutting strips of plaster wrap to size. For each strip, cut a 10cm square, then cut narrower strips from that square.
  2. Prep the Plaster Strips.
Dip each strip into warm water, allowing the excess to drip off. (Don't worry; it's a bit messy-hence the rubber gloves!)
  3. Wrap the Jar.
Start wrapping the plaster strips around the Mason jar. Make sure to overlap the strips for a nice, mummy-like effect. Repeat until the entire jar is covered!
  4. Let It Dry.
Allow the plaster to dry for about 15-20 minutes. If it feels a little thick, it may take a bit longer!
  5. Make the Eyes.
While your jar is drying, cut out two circles from the black paper for the eyes.
  6. Attach the Eyes.
Once the jar is dry, use PVA glue to attach the black paper eyes to the jar. Tuck them beneath the plaster for a spooky surprise!
  7. Add the Light.
Place an LED tea light inside the jar to give your mummy a spooky glow.
  8. Final Touch.
Allow everything to dry completely before displaying your Mummy Lanterns on your porch or in your home!

Materials Needed:

  • Paper cups
  • Mont Marte Plaster Cloth Wrap
  • Black paper (for eyes)
  • Fishing line

Steps:

  1. Cut the Plaster Wrap.
Cut thicker rectangles of plaster wrap this time—about 10x15 cm will do!
  2. Prep the Plaster Strips.
Just like with the mummy, dip each strip into warm water and let the excess drip off.
  3. Drape Over the Cup.
Drape the wet plaster over a paper cup. You should only need 1-2 rectangles of the wet plaster to cover it.
  4. Let It Dry.
Allow the plaster to dry for 15-20 minutes. Make sure it’s solid before you move on!
  5. Make the Eyes.
While waiting for the plaster to dry, cut out two circles from the black paper for the eyes.
  6. Attach the Eyes.
Once dry, glue the black paper eyes onto the cup, securing them with PVA glue.
  7. Add a Hanging String.
With a parent’s help, use a sharp object (like a pen) to punch a hole in the top of the ghost. Thread a piece of fishing line through the hole and secure it with masking tape or more glue.
  8. Final Touch.
Allow your ghost to dry completely before hanging it on your wall or door to greet your Halloween guests!

Now that you’ve made your Mummy Lanterns and Ghostly Wall Hangings, it’s time to show them off! Place them around your home to create a festive atmosphere that everyone will enjoy. Happy Halloween!
