Wheel Throwing Tester Class: A Hands-On Introduction to Clay

Ready to get your hands dirty and dive into the world of wheel throwing? These beginner-friendly classes are the perfect way to experience the joy (and challenge) of pottery for the very first time.

Held in the welcoming Mud 2 Mug studio in Carina, Brisbane, you’ll jump into a fun and muddy session designed to introduce you to the hypnotic art of wheel throwing. While it may look effortless on TikTok, it’s definitely trickier than it seems – but that’s part of the fun! Thankfully, the experienced Mud 2 Mug team will be right there with you, guiding each step of the way.

You’ll learn foundational skills like centering clay, shaping walls, and forming vessels with simple curves and flared edges. With four balls of clay to work with, you’ll be encouraged to play, experiment and enjoy the process – not stress about perfection. You might create small ramekins, a mug (without a handle), or a shallow dish, but the real win is connecting with the clay and discovering your creative flow.

The goal at Mud 2 Mug? To help you fall in love with the feel of the wheel in a relaxed, mindful and fun way.
